Practice Spotlight: Supporting Mentors

Each month we convene with real world learning educators from around the country to dive deep on a particular topic. Interested? You can find next months registration here.

In February, we discussed Supporting Mentors. Here's an excerpt from the invite, the resources, and recording below! One of the themes that came out of January's ‘internship project’ call was the need for increased mentor communication and relationship. It’s real. In order for a high quality real-world learning program to function, mentors need to feel connected deeply to their student and to the school and educator supporting the student. And we want to keep fostering and feeding those positive interactions and relationships!

This month's call covered such practices and needs as: mentor recruitment & onboarding, consistent communication processes w/ mentors, mentor feedback, student projects & assessment, and mentor retention.
